“I have always wanted to teach dance. From a young age, I attended modern and tap lessons and it has always been my passion. I love being a part of so many children’s lives and sharing their journeys with them. Dance has inspired me in so many ways and it is a privilege to share my creativity and knowledge with so many children.” – Angi Passmore, studio owner and dance teacher
We offer small and dedicated classes that are fun, age-appropriate, and taught with love! We teach the A.I.D.T tap and modern syllabus as well as hip-hop and RAD Ballet. We participate in the Gauteng Dance Festival each year and also have an annual studio show where the dancers get to showcase their group dances, solos, duets, trios and quartettes.
We also run a junior and senior technique class where kids who would like to further their training come to a 2nd weekly class. These classes are dedicated to limbering and loosening the muscles and joints, strengthening, core fitness and training to do performance tricks for stage work.
Our dancers have been featured in television adverts as well as represented the studio at the Barnyard Theatre. They are exposed to workshops with international choreographers which broadens their skills and allows them to meet other dancers.
Angi has been passionate about dancing since the age of 6 and knew she wanted to teach children the art and the magic of dancing from a young age. She studied dancing and then opened her studio, Angi’s Academy of Dance, in 1997, and continues to infuse fun, magic and dedication into dance classes to this day. In fact, during Covid-19’s strictest lockdowns, Angi continued to motivate and teach her dancers online. “I believe that children need to move their bodies not only for the physical benefits and for self-expression but also during the pandemic it proved yet again how by continuing to dance and exercise it helped my dance children to manage their mental health, too. All I want is for my kids to come to dance class and feel like they are a part of our big happy dance family.”
